privacy_policyYesterday we launched a new Privacy Policy and Terms of Service for UserVoice, and we wanted to let you know.

Don’t worry – this isn’t one of those situations where a company tries to do something evil by changing confusing legalese. In fact, our new privacy policy is actually a lot clearer and better for you.

This change has enabled us to become Safe Harbor Compliant (Warning: this is an extremely boring link), which we are proud to say became official as of today. This means we are now certified to be following UK rules regarding data.

This required some strict privacy policy structure. Basically, the new privacy policy:

  • Simplifies the language so humans can read it, not just lawyers (yay!)
  • Clearly states what information we collect and how we use and protect it
  • Provides a Better Business Bureau contact for reporting any privacy issues
  • Provides clearer contact info for UserVoice

The changes to our Terms of Service were specifically to indicate that visitors to your UserVoice portals are abiding by our Terms of Service, unless you specify otherwise…in which case, it’s up to you to regulate and handle violations of these terms. This is designed simply to clarify responsibilities under different Terms of Service.
